Ghetarul de la Vartop Cave, Bihor Mountains, RomaniaGhetarul de la Vartop is situated 12 km away from Garda de Sus village, along a forestry road, on an altitude of about 1200m.
It is a fossil cave, approximately 300m in length, with the first cavity covered in ice, followed by rich concretions (stalagmites, curtains, columns, domes), impressive halls (the Dome’s Hall, the Big Hall, the Wonders’ Hall).
The cave owes its fame to the 25000 years old footprints of HOMO SAPIENS FOSSILIS.
